First you can consider the purpose of your products. Your washing routine is divided into 3 steps.
Step 1: Wash
The first step is washing your hair. When washing your hair, clean your scalp of product residue, dirt and sweat.
Step 2: Care
Step 2 is taking care of your hair. After washing, apply a caring product to your hair. You can do this with a conditioner. If you want more intense care, choose a mask.
Step 3: Styling
The final step is styling your hair. Styling is an optional step but can make a huge difference in the final outcome of your curls. Styling products are intended to make your curls stand out optimally. I divide styling products into 3 categories.
- Hydration
First, apply a leave-in, lotion or cream. This step gives your curls extra care and prevents dry hair.
- Fixation
Apply a gel or mousse over this. This product is the 'glue' that holds your curls in place.
- Finish
As a final step, you can use products such as a hair spray, an anti-frizz serum or an oil.
